A pulsating warm wishes from PIME VIDHYA BHAVAN community to all the readers and well-wishers. It’s a privilege to share and to express our feelings and experiences on this beautiful platform of PIME VANI. The theme for the issue is to mark the great upcoming event “synod 2021 to 2023”.”Synod a life giving stream to the wounded world”. We the family of PIME VIDHYA BHAVAN has decided this issue of PIME VANI for the brothers who are receiving the initial promise in this academic year 2021to 2022

Reflecting on the theme proposed for this issue “synod a life giving stream to the wounded world” as we are under the clutches of the corona virus, this has altered the lifestyle of human, this pandemic made us witness the collapse of social, economic religious relationships. today, most of our life is looking normal, the underneath fear is much prevalent. as we see very clearly from the gospel of St. Luke 8;22-25 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out.  As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown! “He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”

The apostles were in danger and they were ambiguous about the situation, we too are like them. Hence God helped the disciples and protected them from danger and same way we too are his children and followers, He would also protect and help us in all our dangers. The one aspect of our worthiness to be protected and helped by God is our faith and trust in Him, this synod is a true life giving stream to all of us who are wounded by this pandemic, this synod, is a journey towards God and its paving way for us to life. Through communion, participation and mission of the church, to restore and to renew faith in God, it is right time to have completely trust in Him and build our faith in Him and walk towards Him.

I thank the almighty for his blessings for bringing up this issue, as this issue is dedicated to the brothers[CHOKKA KARTHIK RAJU, GEORGE KIRO, DARELLI SURESH} as they are making their initial promise, lets us continue to pray for them  for their discernment and vocation. My sincere thanks to Fr.John Berchman{rector} for his constant encouragement for enlightening in us new ideas for this issue. My special thanks to Fr. Johnson Kuppil {spiritual director} for his support and encouragement. I also thank all collaborators and contributors who contributed in writing articles, poems and experiences. I thank all the readers, supporters, well-wishers and benefactors from the bottom of my heart for the prayers and continuous support.

“How Synod does becomes the life giving stream to a wounded world”

There are many people in this world who have left the practice of faith, who are without religious beliefs. In the world where there is hatred, separation, injustice and hierarchy power. The synod becomes the life giver to the people who stopped practicing their faith, and becomes the healer to the wounded world with injustices and misusing their hierarchal Power. The term synod comes from Greek word Sinodos meaning sun- together/ hodos-way. It is an assembly where everyone come together to bring changes and lead the people of God into a straight line. Pope Francis is inviting all the baptized to take part in the synod. Why baptized because they are the people of God. They are the voice of God. This synod takes a special care to invite everyone, from atheist to pope and from sinner to righteous.

This synod is a journey of participation, communion and mission. The synod is to listen and to learn, to love and to live, and allowing God to guides our live. We must open windows and doors and allowing the people to reach god in one communion. When we speak about Communion, it is about common sharing. It is to reach out particularly to the last and to the least. And it is an invitation to open up and to realize that all are our brothers and sisters. It means including everyone because we are all the children of god and this should be our mission. Mission is about going out of us. It means going out of our arrogance, hate and violence. It is more about healing, loving and about building bridges and mission is calling us to participate as one. Participation is all about giving place for others. It is dare to open the windows and doors and accepting everyone as brothers and sisters.  What happens too many of us that, we many times lock ourselves from inside and we block people to reach god. So participation is to giving a way to another.

Synod brings back the one who left the practice of his faith and brings the non-believer to faith. In the process of synod there will be no hatred, separation and unjust hierarchal Power. According to synod all are equal. So the synod is all about healing the wounds and bringing back to real life which God has given to all of us to live. Human actions and works are great if they are from the will of God.  Synod is not about giving suggestion that if we do in this way may be there will be a lot of changes rather doing that way but it is more of participation, involvement, collaboration and cooperation. So we should be at work doing the will and following the commandment of god rather just being a speaker. The synod becomes healing only when we are at the work. Our cooperation and collaborations is very important, because being one we can create lot of changes then being alone. When we are able to bring back the children God in the process of synod we are doing the will of god. Synod has no meaning if we are not participating as communion. The synod becomes the life giving stream to this wounded world, when we actually take part in the synod, that is why pope inviting all the kinds of people to be part of it and to give a life changing suggestions.

CRY OF THE WOUNDED WORLD

O listen listen lord, the cry of your people

Unveil the wail of our suffering

Retrieve joy on our shabby faces

O come and heal our broken bodies

The world cries out in unfettered agony

Life seems misery and pain

Fear drains out our morale

O come and rescues us from this melancholy

None but thee alone our strength

With you we are imperturbable

Thy unflinching love gives us hope

Thy presence reignite our spirit

Let our penurious mind recognize thy presence in the darkest days of our life

Let thy shadow bring resplendent light to our lives.

 JESUS IS OUR HOPE

Indeed I am very glad to share my regency experience .I did my Regency at Don Bosco Navajeevan, in the Archdiocese of Hyderabad. Here there are two categories of children: school going & Trade learning. As a Regent my responsibility is to be with the children always and look after their needs and wants. In the beginning I struggled a little to understand the structure of Salesians and children’s way of life. But as days went on, I was able to know and understand the hard realities of poor boys and abandoned children and about their broken families.

My experience with the boys here is something great, because to work with boys I need to be very active and more energetic and also enthusiastic to cooperate with young boys and more importantly patience through which I can understand each boy and their family background and their mind set. I feel that understanding others and accepting other as they are is a great experience that helps to live a happy life. Being with them I realized myself to help in their goals and interests in which they lack and help them to grow into well-disciplined citizens and promote goodness into one self and in others.

There are fun moments where we had come together and had party games and small and big programs cheering ourselves and encouraging each other. When I looked back at the end of my regency, indeed I felt very happy for the wonderful experience that I had. Yes, of course there were many struggles, difficulties and worried days but all these taught me to stand firm when they come in future.

PIME Vani theme “Synod: A life Giving Stream to The Wounded World” is very interesting. I took time; let’s say some days to reflect and understand the theme. I would like to say something out of my regency experience that when we experience events that wound us, we may bring emotions like shock, disbelief, sadness, or anger. Such events can challenge our sense of security and trust, making us feel anxious, afraid, and vulnerable. We may distance ourselves from people or things that wounded us: we break relationships, leave communities, and abandon our faith in God and the Church.

I too experienced anger, frustration, irritation while being with the boys, but later I reflected of my identity who I am and changed my life. At the end of regency I am so happy and joyful. Hence, brothers we need to be members of the Church that can walk with these people, and help them make sense of the woundedness and darkness in their lives. By doing so, God can be with them through us and satisfy their spiritual hunger, and we can show them that the Church has not abandoned them.

We may have difficult times in our lives, but we can turn them into moments of sanctity and blessing through prayers and meditation. We can invite Jesus into our woundedness and recognize the goodness he brings out of it. Just as Jesus’ death was not the end of His story, woundedness is not the end of our life experiences. Jesus’ resurrection gives us hope that we can look forward to life, light, and joy as we journey through our woundedness.

   The Christians faith during Covid

As our holy father has spoken about the synodality, it’s all about walking together in the path of Jesus Christ, to be united with the church, bringing newness in the life of all Christians, giving opportunity to the laity to share their opinion for the progression of the church. as we know the church from early century that how it has gone through all the problems. The church has been suffering from long time throughout the world. After the resurrection of Jesus Christ there was a terrible persecution, which continues till now. The people in the early century had tough time to worship Jesus Christ in public but they used to worship Jesus Christ in a place where none of the non-Christians knew about.

In spite of facing the entire problem, they had strong faith. As the persecution grew, the number of the Christians grew and also there was unity among the Christians. When we think of the present centuries of Christians faith, especially in the situation of Covid, the Christians faith during Covid has brought tremendous change to the church. The Covid was very dangerous that there was complete restriction to open the church to perform all the activities. The mass were conducted through online, the blessing on marriage was done online, and even the catechism classes were conducted through online.

In the present scenario it seems to be that the church is going back to the early century. Especially currently in India, the Christians have no opportunity to show up their talent and capability in any of the field. In spite of facing the entire problem, the Christians have the belief towards Jesus Christ. There was numerous attack on the church as well as to the Christians during Christmas of this year.

Some activists burned the effigy of Santa Claus shouting ‘Santa Claus murdabad’ in Agra, U.P. Haryana the activists protested at Christians school where celebration were being held on Christmas. Statue of the holy Redeemer was vandalised in Ambala, Haryana. As synod is a life giving stream to the wounded world, through synod the church will no longer suffer. It’s like medicine which will cure the wound of all the Christians especially those Christian who are persecuted by non-Christians; it will bring change to the church and will help people grow in their faith.

If a person walks alone then he or she can go one mile but when a group of people walk together then they can go thousand and thousand of miles, it’s possible when there is understanding, collaboration, concern and trust among the group of people. As our Holy Father has rightly mentioned that walking together, be united with the church, and giving preference to the laity to share their thoughts, it brings the newness and fullness of Christians living. So let us walk together to give witness for the love of Jesus Christ.

                                                                                                              Chandra Sekher Nayak

                                                                                                                 1st year of Philosophy

My regency experience in Chitradurga:

I am very happy to share my personal experiences during the time of Regency at chitradurga.I was working in Chitradurga degree College Karnataka.  some of my  experience in Chitradurga helped me to look towards the future .which I have to face. these experiences in Chitradurga helped me to realize  and test  my  vocation and build a strong faith in God .when I went to Chitradurga for my regency experience, every thing was new for me, New language, new culture, food, customs and traditions but one thing helped me a lot is  the faith in God. I had faith in God that he will make everything for me and I had confidence that he will change me according to his wish and make me a good instrument for His service, that faith and trust helped me to work better to live  in union with students, staff members of teaching and non teaching staff.

In my regency place my basic work was to be a hostel warden and to teach  in the college. Being a hostel warden one must build patience and tolerance and I learned to build these two qualities  in me. when we learn to build good qualities then we understand the boys and girls well and also we start to understand people in a better manner and we become part of their joy and sadness .Helping them to bring a bright future for them. On the other hand I had the chance to be involved in the village ministry too, where I went for the inauguration of tuition center and for  house visiting. House visits helped me to learn different languages and culture, l did not find  much difficulty because people were very good in understanding and lived a simple  life.

These days of my stay helped to me to realise what iam and how I gonna face the reality in brief. This experience  of staying with well experienced priests helped  to deal the tough situations also in a peaceful way. Their love and respect towards the students and marginalised sparked my inner values. I  enjoyed their companionship at all times. Especially when I was alone and when I was wrong, their encouragement helped me a lot,
I would like to express a Deep gratitude to my superior and formators for the choice of  an apt place for me. I would also thank Fr.Saji George (rector of Chitradurga SDB)Fr.joe principal of degree college, Fr.Joseph Dandavati (Chitra director) for the lessons they taught me and the care they showed me.

                                                                                                  George Kiro

                                                                                                 Year of regency

Growing and learning through others in Christ

This is Karthik raju chokka, doing my regency in odisha at st.josephs catholic Church paralakamendi . I would like to share some of my experiences what I had in paralakamendi, working with diocesan priests from Brahmapur diocese. These days of my stay in paralakamendi had given me a great experiences and memories to cherish and lessons to learn and to live on. In my regency my prime duty is to stay with the boys, to help them in their studies, to guide them spiritually and socially, to be with them 24/7. This is how I was indicated to do so. Being with boys is always a joy, but the tough task is to make them study.
Insipte of my daily routine jobs of marketing and accounts I found some time to stay with them in the study hours and helping in a little way what i can. This gave a lot of happiness and peace. I Even learned a lot from the boys the sensitivity and innocence of heart and soul. Their love and respect towards the elders and parents that inspired me. Their patience in listening to others taught me to respect others when they talk.
The three institutions parish-rectory, hostel and school, had given me a wider understanding about the other faith and non catholic believers. These institutions had given a feeling that i am not alone . Though the productivity of work is comparatively low, people around me likes my presence. It's not our job rather our presence brings joy in the atmosphere. It is the people who created such a healthy atmosphere for me to grow in sharing and loving what we have.
My regular work and daily routine dealings with the vendors and teachers had taught me respect towards the religion. Most of these people are not Christians but they respect the Christianity and respect the people who devoted themselves for the work of Christ, especially priests, nuns and brothers. Their respect towards other religion and that reminded me to be more sincere to my faith and equal respect to the others. My regular chats and sharing's have given me wider and deeper understanding of my own religion too.

My regular ministry had helped me to foresee my future ministry in a realistic view. It's here I tasted the real experience of how people look at us, of how people look forward for our presence, how they are eager to listen from us the word of God. Their genuine respect to the priests helped me to respect priests around me. Weekly reflections helped to nourish the word of God, sharing's had paved the way to keep my spirit active and alive. Some sensitive cases made me to think of how we need to go about without drawing the complete conclusion rather looking from the different directions. Regular interactions and meetings with the parishioners made me to realize the beauty of Life. Their complete attention towards our talks made to realize that our words matters a lot. Strong faith and simple Life style of the parishioners had given me the opportunity to increase my faith to be more faithful to the work iam assigned to do.

Service of the St. Joseph sisters at the parish and school had given me the inspiration and encouragement to work hard and complete commitment to the call. Their availability and priority for the holy mass really pinched my priority of attending the mass.
Companionship of the fathers Fr.Thomas Pariyal, Fr. Suresh and Fr.Revian  is something great and inspiring. Though I don't belong to any of their age group they never treated me low, rather they respect me and treated me as I am. Their friendship and care is something peculiar in them. They gave me sufficient and more freedom to prove my self who I am. Fathers have always encouraged my ideas and helped me with their initiatives and suggestions. They had given me the opportunity to learn the accounting and matters related to finance even.

They loved me as their younger brother and helped in times of wrong steps. All these things had given a challenge for the future for me to treat every human being with respect and love, irrespective of the state we are and dioecies or the society we belong to.
The most challenging part of my ministry is to communicate with others. It is easy to communicate with the known people and with the people of same interests and like minded people. But it's not that easy to communicate with new people. My regular work and responsibilities are mostly with the non Christians vendors, teachers, helpers and some collaborators. So it's a real task to project my self to them and to present myself in a sincere way, with almost respect to all the religions.

Most of times I feel their love and respect towards the priests and religious is far better and deeper than mine. This had helped me a lot in my dealing with the priests and religious.
My one year of stay in paralakamendi had a great impact in my personality and my spirituality.
I feel I am growing, growing deeper.
